and development of the automotive industry as Henry Ford.
Ford started the last century with a single man envisioning
products that would meet the needs of people in a world
on the verge of high-gear industrialization. Today, the
Ford Motor Company is a worldwide family of automotive
brands consisting of: Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda, Jaguar,
Land Rover, Aston Martin, and Volvo.
Situation
Over 20 years ago, the Ford Motor Company challenged Ancor
to develop a cost-efficient, customer-friendly window
label providing information related to standard and optional
features. In addition, the solution needed to support
a "just-in-time" (JIT) production process to
support all North American Ford plants for next-day delivery.
Solution Overview
Ancor approached this challenge with an end-to-end labeling
solution that supports a 10-hour or less timeframe for
production and delivery to all North American Ford plants.
This included a finished label that was not only removable,
but also re-affixable. As part of this process, Ancor
developed a unique mechanism for delivery of VIN specific
labels and vehicle documents in assembly line order to
all Ford plants and Ford and Lincoln Mercury dealerships
in the Ford Motor Company brand family. In addition, Ancor
supports all of Ford's re-invoicing/rebill documentation
needs, providing a built-in mechanism for production and
distribution.
Business Results
- Ancor has passed significant cost savings to Ford
Motor Company via constant negotiation with inventory
suppliers, program efficiencies and use of new technologies
- Development and production of a Central Label Package:
Retail Window Labels or Vehicle Window Stickers, Safety
Certification Labels, Tread Act Labels, Ramp or Transportation
Labels that are used to route the vehicle from the
plant to the dealership, Bumper Labels and Alternative
Fuel Labels
- Dealer Invoice Package created -- providing the
Certificate of Origin for a Vehicle (COV) and New
Vehicle Information Statement (NVIS)
Ancor Performance
Today, Ancor produces 60,000-100,000 VIN-specific documents
for Ford Motor Company daily. These pieces are individually
matched to create daily automobile packages for all North
American Ford plants and individual Ford Dealers. |
